Gum Disease Screening

New program for screening

During your dental checkup, your dentist or hygienist examines your gums. This is done 3 ways, visually checking for swelling and redness, manually with a blunt instrument to measure the depth of space between the tooth and gum and with radiographs to check for bone height and bone defects.

Though easily treatable, ignoring periodontal disease has the potential to lead to serious consequences.  In fact, evidence now links gum disease to a variety of health concerns including preterm and/or low birthweight baby, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other life-threatening degenerative diseases.
